What's your word ?

If you have read ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ by Elizabeth Gilbert, this would have occurred to you. If you haven’t, well, on my guesses to a normal soul’s path of life, it might still have occurred to you – What’s your word?

According to the book, everything can go coupled with a word that best goes with it – everything -a person, a place, a book – just everything. It’s said to be more natural than we think.
Like, let me try -

-India – people
-Home– heart
-Fridays – boon
-My best friend – hysteria

- See? Simple!

Actually, it doesn’t sound that complicated in theory – a question you would have to answer in just about a word, just about what hits your mind, I think it should be - heart, before blinking off – what’s your word?

So why does it confuse the shit out of me, in practice, in real, into my face???

When I read the book a year ago, I decided to pretend I hadn’t read that question – after intensely going thru’ oodles of deranged hours on the couch, thinking about it, well, like you had guessed, to no answer.
For, again another deranged reason, I am re-reading the book, this time, with a wider eye for all that I missed during the first.
A word – okay, not necessarily about the type of personality you possess – it could be a thing that’s like a hymn to your soul, that breathes in and breathes out, that lives in your heart, that comes to life in dreams during those soundest sleeps, that without which you would not be you! And the truly magical part about it is-you gotta trust me on this-that you may not know it exists – but it does.

- Well, at least I like to believe it does even if I haven’t come to terms with it.

Play it safe – the book convinces that it’s ok not to find it even if you set out on a hunt with just all the honesty you could harvest from deepest roots of your heart. But you will, one day.

Now, fortune telling could be a different ball game, but I trust on this one – I will, one day. I hope, I will – damn, what the devil can the word be ?

I'm sure many of you might give a smug opinion that why would anyone give a damn. If it's so - good for you ! It keeps you from hysterical limits your soul can scale up to - umm, well, never mind!

I didn't read the book therefore could not understand the struggle.

Purple Heart, I started writing an answer to your question what is my word, I feel I would like to make it a post instead. I hope it is okay.

Dear Purple heart,

Hmmm a word within us,that has to be coupled within,& yet may not realise its existence, yes this is something thats going to give a damn thought for days, but the answer can be relative right? depending on who is who and whats there for the moment..may be or may not...anyways something to ponder with from your side .

i dont know if its me or my character. I love to preach everyone to do each and every type of experiments. But when it comes to myself i am the biggest chicken of all. I have not tried this word on myself but will surly tell some one to follow.

Readers Dais, I don't think it could be relative because that kinda dilutes the exact essence of it, don't you think ? When you find it, you will be positive that this is what is me, nothing relative, nothing uncertain about it. :) Will you let me know if you find it ? :)

Santosh, that's easy ;)

Dear Purple Heart,

Relative in the sense, our age, present aspiration all that, say in your college days u and ur freinds, some may be studious, some into sports, some romance, some arts etc..at that time what word would each relate to..ok if they find a word, then when u meet them after 10 yrs wat would be their aspirations..family,career,society..and what word would they relate to then, will it be same as the word 10 yrs back..dont know.can be..still changes also can happen...can isnt it?
Aha...& mine as i told, uve left me blank lets see if any word exist..will let u know for sure :)[if i find and feel thats true] :)

I see what you are saying. That puts it in a newer perspective. May be it's how I believe, I think even if your priorities in life change and your entire style of being changes, do we change at soul ? Of course, we grow, we mature, we invent ourselves. But isn't there always something that tries to capture you when you are alone, content and healthy? I don't know, this is just probably how I see it. When I search for that word inside me, my mind (otherwise always on a roll) comes to a slow-down phase- I don't mean pause - it just slows down but doesn't tell me anything, any word at all. It's sometimes is disturbing because you get this feeling that you don't know yourself, you know, at all !! But it could also be because you know yourself way too well. If you ask me what am into at this phase of life, it's simple - Health and that would be my word. My are of interest has entirely shifted to physical and mental health. But is that my word, like, my OWN word? um...probably not. :)

Readers Dais, I didn't go back to review what I wrote before posting - so please excuse the technical flaws .

You are making me want to go back and reread the book. I forgot about the word pairing. I think I'd like to ask someone who knows me well what my word is.
